Making a skin care routine can be exciting and fun. But actually sticking to your skincare routine is a whole different game! And one that is often more challenging than determining what products you want to add to the routine. Which is why today I am sharing these 10 tips for sticking to your skincare routine. Because from my experience it can take a bit but with the right effort you can stick to your skincare routine and start transforming your skin!

Before we get into these tips let’s quickly chat a bit more about the importance of a skin care routine.

Why is an actual skin care routine so helpful?

  1. Maintains skin health: A consistent skincare routine helps maintain the overall health of your skin. It allows you to cleanse away dirt, oil, and impurities that can accumulate throughout the day, helping to prevent clogged pores, breakouts, and other skin issues. Additionally, using products that are suited to your skin type and concerns can provide essential nourishment, hydration, and protection.

How to start sticking to your skincare routine:

1) Keep it simple:

Start with a simple skincare routine that consists of essential steps like cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen. This makes it easier to follow through consistently. Over time, you can add additional steps or products as needed.

This way you won’t overwhelm yourself or add too much to your plate right off the bat.

2) Know your skin type:

Understand your skin type and choose skincare products that are suitable for your specific needs. Using the right products for your skin can make a noticeable difference and motivate you to stick to your routine. It also is just helpful in general to know what your body including your skin is telling you. Listen to your skin and it will tell you what it needs to thrive!

3) Create a schedule:

Set specific times in your day for your skincare routine. For example, make it a habit to cleanse and moisturize your skin both in the morning and before bed. By integrating it into your daily schedule, it becomes a natural part of your routine.

Turn your skincare routine into a self-care ritual. Take the time to pamper yourself, enjoy the textures and scents of your products, and use the process as a way to relax and unwind. Making it a pleasurable experience can make it more likely that you’ll stick to it.

It doesn’t need to be a daunting or negative task. Incorporate things into your skin care routine that you enjoy and will make you look forward to it! This is one of the most helpful tips for sticking to your skincare routine in my experience!

Share your skincare goals with a friend or family member who can support and encourage you to stick to your routine. You can even find online skincare communities or forums where you can connect with others who have similar goals and exchange tips and experiences.

A fun way to do this is sharing your skin care process, journey, progress, etc on social media- especially TikTok! And a great way to support others who are trying to learn to stick to their skin care routine too.

Remember that skincare results take time, and consistency is key. Stick to your routine even if you don’t see immediate changes. Over time, you will start to notice improvements in your skin’s health and appearance.
