NASCAR Hall of Fame: What To Know Before You Go
As a new Charlotte resident I had to check out the NASCAR hall of fame- well in honesty my father in law really wanted to go. But regardless it was a fun experience but unlike other activities around it didn’t seem like there was a ton of accessible information about it.
So today I wanted to round up everything I learned and researched so you can have the best and most fun experience at the NASCAR hall of fame. Let’s get into it so you can start planning-

NASCAR Hall of Fame: What To Know Before You Go
All you need to know about the NASCAR hall of fame:
Location + Navigation:
Address: 📍 400 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28202
It is located in Uptown (aka what Charlotte calls their downtown/ main part of the city). You will know you are in the right area when you start to see checkered sidewalks around.
It’s easily accessible by car, with parking available at the adjacent NASCAR Plaza Parking Garage. If you’re staying in the city, you can also take the Charlotte Light Rail (the Blue line/ Lynx rail) to the Convention Center Station, which is just a short walk away. And riding the rail is less than $3 a person compared to $20+ parking in the garage.

Admission and Pricing:
Let’s start with the current General Admission pricing for 2025:
- Adults (13-64): $27
- Seniors (65+): $24
- Youth (4-12): $20
- Kids under 3: Free
There are two additional options as well to consider-
Combo Packages Available: If you want the full experience, look for ticket packages that include simulator rides and guided tours.
Memberships: If you’re a die-hard NASCAR fan, consider a membership for unlimited entry and exclusive perks. My father in law decided to sign my husband and I up for the membership so I will update this to see if we actually go back! We were told there is events for members only so maybe we will check one of those out!
Keep an eye out on their website as well for special promos and group rates.

When is the best time to visit?
- Weekdays: If you want to avoid crowds, visiting on a weekday (especially in the morning) is your best bet.
- Be Prepared For Race Season: Visiting during race weeks or before major NASCAR events can add extra excitement, but expect larger crowds. Definitely depends on if you like that energy or would prefer a calmer experience if you want to go during race weeks or not.
- Off-Peak Seasons: January through March tends to be quieter, making it a great time to explore at your own pace.
- Charlotte event schedule: if there is things pulling in a lot of people from out of town (ie a panthers game) the hall of fame will be busier but if its a weekend with a lot just for locals (like concerts) it will be less busy.
Must-See Exhibits & Attractions
The NASCAR Hall of Fame isn’t just about plaques and trophies—it’s a fully interactive experience. Here are some highlights you won’t want to miss:

- Hall of Honor
The heart of the museum, this exhibit pays tribute to NASCAR’s greatest legends with their stories, memorabilia, and career highlights. When we went there was an incredible exhibit about the first woman to race in a NASCAR race! But take the time to look at the contributions of everyone here not just the racers!
In the hall of honor there is also a cool set-up of video displays about each honoree with attached phones you can pick up to listen to the video. That way everyone can listen to the stories they want to hear about without it being super loud in there! Such a smart setup.
- Glory Road
A fan-favorite, this is a ramp that showcases a rotating lineup of historic NASCAR cars, complete with real-life track angles that let you experience what drivers see on the curves.
There is also a bunch of different pieces from tracks throughout that you can feel them which I personally found to be super fun but make sure to bring hand sanitizer- theres is a lot of people touching them!
- High-Octane Theater
This theater runs an “action packed” summary to get you hyped before touring the museum/hall of fame. Personally skipped it but it also looked like a great place to give the kiddos a breather!
- Race Week Experience
This hands-on exhibit lets you step into the world of NASCAR teams, experiencing the prep work, pit stops, and high-pressure decision-making that goes into every race.
- iRacing Simulator
Ever wondered what it’s like to be behind the wheel of a NASCAR stock car? The iRacing simulator lets you experience it first-hand, racing against other visitors in a virtual track setting.
This was a BLAST though definitely listen and do the practice simulators on the yellow wall (go the opposite direction to the furthest wall from the simulators on the same level). We skipped and honestly it made it so much harder!
- Pit Crew Challenge
Put your speed and coordination to the test in a timed pit stop challenge where you change a tire just like a real NASCAR crew member. If you have enough people you can also compete with people in your group for who can finish faster. Proud to say my husband and I won lol!
How Long to Spend at the NASCAR Hall of Fame
Average Visit Time: 2-3 hours
If you’re a casual fan, 2-3 hours is plenty to explore the exhibits, try out a few interactive stations, and soak in the experience. Hardcore NASCAR enthusiasts might want to dedicate 4+ hours to read through all the detailed history and try every simulator.
Bonus tips for a fun visit:
✔️ Wear Comfortable Shoes – There’s a lot of walking, especially on the banked “Glory Road” exhibit.
✔️ Bring a Camera – Plenty of cool photo ops with legendary cars and interactive exhibits.
✔️ Go Early or Late – Arriving right when they open or a couple of hours before closing helps you avoid crowds.
✔️ Check the Calendar – Look for special events, meet-and-greets, or racing simulations that might be happening during your visit.
